Same but different #6

It’s time for the "Same but different" February challenge. For more information about this challenge, click HERE.

Here is a peek at the die we used this month – "Chrissy Butterfly" from Simon Says Stamp:

And this is my take on this die:

At first, I created a colorful watercolor background and left it dry. Then I used the "Camouflaging Die Cuts" technique for the "Chrissy Butterfly". Once I die-cut the butterfly directly from my watercolored paper, I adhered some tape behind the die-cut opening. To add dimension, I die-cut the butterfly 5 more times from black cardstock. Then I glued all pieces together with the colored one on top. I cut one more piece from vellum and fixed it on top, with just a glue dot in the center. To finish it off, I inlaid the stacked butterflies to the card base on the tape. I stamped the sentiment "You brighten my day" from the Technique Tuesday stamp set called "Hello Sunshine" in black and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. At last, I added some rhinestones, sequins and voilà… It is a super simple but cheerful card and a great way to get die-cuts in the focal point!

Now hop over to Anja's blog to see what she did for the challenge!

Don’t forget that if you have the die and if you get inspired by our challenge, feel free to share it with us! Leave a direct link to your project in the comment field below (No back links, please! It will be funnier to see new creations!). You can also upload your cards on our Same but different Flickr gallery! Thanks to Stéphanie for sharing your card with us last month!

See you next month for a new "Same but different" challenge. Thanks for stopping by!

Francine

This is incredible! I really love how you made such vibrant colors in the background, then mirrored them in more subtle tones in the butterfly. This is a feast for the eyes and I'm so glad you shared it with us for this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!
