Make it Crafty CAS Challenge #1 – How-to…
Hi everyone! A few days ago, I shared a sneak peek
of my challenge card for the Make
it Crafty CAS Challenge #1 and today I’m back to outline the details of my
card.
This month, it’s
all about background techniques!
Here is my card using a MiC rubber stamp called Sarah colored
with Copic markers:
For the
background, I got inspired by the talented AND lovely Laura Bassen who shared this
technique. At first, I cut a curved edge from cardstock (mine was covered with
plastic) that I used as a mask. I used post-it tape to mask the outside of the
frame of a withe cardstock panel. Then I applied from the top edge a light
shade of ink to the panel using a blending tool. I went ahead and put the
curved mask over the inked strip at an angle, and applied another shade of ink,
working from the mask onto the cardstock. I repeated this step (switching the
ink shades and alternating the angles) until I inked the whole panel. I used
dye inks from Simon Says Stamp and Hero Arts. At last, I removed the post-it
tape from the edges and glued my panel to the card base. To finish off my card,
I stamped a sentiment from the Avery Elle "Sending You" set to the background,
I fussy cut the image and fixed it with 3D foam pads to the card.
If you want to
share your fun backgrounds, join our CAS challenge on the Make
it Crafty blog! You can enter by the end of the month. The requirements are
to create a new Clean & Simple project using at least one Make it Crafty

Have a wonderful
day…
