Penny Black | Bliss 2017 Collection | Spotlight 1

Hello everyone! This month, I’m back with more cards for Penny Black featuring stamps and dies from their newest BLISS 2017 catalog. I was so excited to play with the new stuff! The stamps are super cute and the dies so versatile.

Here is my first card showcasing the 30-414 Time to celebrate stamp set:

I first created the background using the 51-002 Leaves creative dies. I die cut the leaves and used the negative piece as a stencil that I sponged with green Distress inks over a white cardstock panel. I then stamped the sentiment in black ink. The sentiment is from the 30-351 Kool Kats stamp set. Next, I stamped the cat with black hybrid ink. I tried to think out of the box and only used the cat, not the balloons in his hand. Check the initial image:

I wanted the cat swinging on a liana like Tarzan, not hanging on a bunch of balloons. I colored the image with Copic markers and cut it out with scissors. I then added the string (hemp cord) and adhered the cat with foam pads to the panel and the panel to a top-folded card base.

For more inspiration, don’t forget to check the Penny Black blog and the Penny Black Simplicity blog.

Have a wonderful day and see you soon for more Penny Black spotlights…

This is too stinkin' CUTE, Francine! I love how you created the leaves with your homemade stencil, and how your cat is swinging along with his rope in the jungle! Beautiful Copic coloring, too! Love this fun card to pieces!!!

Adorable! Interesting technique with the leaves. Just wondering--did you hand letter the "w", "e" and "o" with a white pen? I like what you did with those letters. Your creations are always fun and innovative!

Hi Dee,
Thanks so much for the lovely feedback! No, I didn't! The stamp is "clear" for the "w", "e" and "o" letters.
