Penny Black | Poetic 2017 Collection | Spotlight 1

Hello everyone! This month, I’m back with more cards for Penny Black featuring stamps and dies from their newest Poetic 2017 catalog. The mixed media style of this release is fantastic!

Here is my first spotlight and I’m showcasing the 40-544 Poetic stamp set designed for Penny Black by my friend Mimi (Micheline Jourdain / Mimi à la carte on Facebook):

I went for a clean and simple layout because I wanted to focus on that fabulous leaf! I stamped the leaf with Bundled Sage Distress ink and I then painted over with Winsor & Newton watercolor paint using a paintbrush. I usually use hot pressed watercolor paper for this kind of images but this time I chose cold pressed paper for more texture. I worked with a lot of different shades (greens, yellows, browns, blues and greys) to get a great contrast and make the leaf pop. The sentiment that I stamped in black ink is from the 30-280 A sweet day stamp set. Here are the stamps I used for this card (click to the images to enlarge):
